The Battle of Mukden, 1905. Mukden was the largest single Battle fought anywhere on the Planet between 1871 and 1914. Its course and outcome set the stage for much that followed during the First World War, but today it is largely unknown.
"The Battle of Mycale". Mycale, an overlooked battle, is as critical to Western Civilization as the Battles of Marathon, Thermopylae, Artemisium, Salamis and Plataea. The Battle of Mycale marked a change in the wars, a change that took the Greeks from being on the defensive to going on the offensive.
"Wavell at Bay, February–June 1941". Early 1941 was grim for British fortunes. Although still controlling the seas, Britain was far inferior to its Enemies in ground and air forces. Despite these challenges, Gen. Archibald Wavell achieved military success against heavy odds.
"Poland, 1830–31: The November Insurrection. Following the Napoleonic Wars, Poland went from being the Duchy of Warsaw to the Kingdom of Poland, but as a vassal state of Russia. In 1830, a group of independence minded cadets from the Infantry Officers’ School in Warsaw, learned the Tsar’s Secret Police knew about their underground organization and was about to arrest them. Seeing no other choice, the cadets took up arms and the November Insurrection began.
